As part of the "Filipinos Around The World" campaign of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Philippine Consulate General is pleased to share a write up on the history and experiences of sakadas (plantation workers) in Hawaii written by Mr. Romel dela Cruz, a Filipino writer from the Big Island, Hawaii.

Mr. dela Cruz also interviewed 3 living sakadas based on the Big Island - Marcelino Querobin, Pedro Dominguez and Bernaldo Abella.
