To launch the month-long National Women’s Month Celebration in March 2017, the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu, led by Acting Head of Post Roberto T. Bernardo, held a flag-raising ceremony at the Philippine Consulate on 27 February 2017. A brief program followed, where the importance of National Women’s Month as well as planned activities for the month-long celebration were announced by the Consulate’s lady officers, Consul Joyleen E. Santos and Vice Consul Andrea Christina Q. Caymo.

The celebration of National Women’s Month is pursuant to Proclamation No. 227 s. 1988 which provides for its annual conduct every March to recognize the contributions of Filipino women in society.

The theme for this year’s National Women’s Month, “We Make Change Work for Women”, reflect the Duterte’s administration’s goal of protection of women’s rights and full implementation of the Magna Carta of Women (Republic Act 9710). END.
