(1 June 2017, Honolulu, Hawaii) Mr. Rollan Geronimo, representing the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and a PhD Candidate at the University of Hawaii, called on Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin on 31 May 2017 to inform her of the upcoming peer exchange activity “Ecosystem-based Fisheries Management and Conservation: A Partnership in Governance, Management, Science and Enforcement” which will be held from 26 to 30 June 2017 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Atty. Donnie Juan, Executive Director of the Filipino Community Center, and Consul Joyleen E. Santos joined the call.

NOAA seeks through this scientific and technical partnership with USAID to build capacity and good governance in countries in Asia and the Pacific, towards the improvement of the lives of people, health of oceans and coasts, and generally enhance the resilience of society, economies, and the environment in this globally significant region.

This PH-US bilateral activity, which aims to foster greater ties between Philippine and US agencies in the Pacific working on fisheries and marine conservation issues, will be participated in by officials from the following agencies: NOAA; US Agency for International Development (USAID); Philippines Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR); and Philippines Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Biodiversity Management Bureau.
