Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin welcomed new Japanese Consul General Koichi Ito, when the latter made a courtesy visit at the Philippine Consulate General on November 09.

Consul General Koichi Ito was assigned to China for five years, at the Japanese Embassy in Beijing and at the Consulate General of Japan in Guangzhou.

Next year 2018, will be the 150th year anniversary since the first Japanese immigrants arrived in Hawaii. Consul General Ito discussed with Consul General Jamoralin ways to celebrate the milestone event, getting tips from Consul General Jamoralin on the Sakada Day commemorations which started in 2015, and resulted in a bill signed by Gov. David Ige, HB 604, designating December 20th of each year as Sakada Day in Hawaii.

Consul General Ito also discussed ways to further strengthen Philippine- Japanese economic and cultural relations. END
