The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu awarded to Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) the contract for the Project Manager for its Chancery Renovation Project. Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin and Mr. Paul Brussow, Executive Vice President of RLB signed the contract on 27 December 2017. The signing was witnessed by Consul Roberto T. Bernardo, Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) Chairman; Andrea Christina Q. Caymo, Chair of the BAC Secretariat; and Mr. Terence Young, lead Project Coordinator of RLB.

Rider Levett Bucknall shall oversee and manage the design, renovation of old chancery building and construction of a new consular annex of the Philippine Consulate. The existing three-story main building and the attached covered lanai on its property located along the Pali Highway in Honolulu will also be renovated and refurbished.  A two-story chancery building shall also be built on the site currently occupied by a custodian’s cottage.

The facility at 2433 Pali Highway has been the site of the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu (PCGH) since October 1948 when it was sold to the Philippine Memorial Foundation for $80,000. The Foundation, comprised of sakadas, leased the property to the Philippine government for use as its consular office and as the residence of its Consul General. Eventually, the State of Hawaii bought portions of the property under imminent domain for the construction of the Pali Highway. In 1961, the Foundation sold the remaining portion (45,607 square feet) to the Republic of the Philippines for $80,000, and has since been the site of the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu. The property continues to be used as consular offices, as well as a gathering place for the Filipino community in Hawaii. <END>
