The Philippine Consul General  paid a farewell call  on  Governor of Hawaii Honorable David Ige on January 9, 2018 at the State Capitol .  Governor Ige recalled his successful visit to the Philippines in October 2017 with Consul General Gina Jamoralin and delegates  of the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii (FCCH) Trade Mission to the Philippines. Govenor Ige visited Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte and Cebu and Metro Manila. During the visit, Governor Ige  and Ilocos Sur Governor Ryan Singson, in his capacity as  president of the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) , signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the State of Hawaii and the  LPP.

Consul General Jamoralin thanked Governor Ige for his support and attendance  in annual  events organized by   the Philippine Consulate General such as  National Day Gala Dinner every June 12th, Day of Valor (Araw ng Kagitingan) commemoration ceremony every April 9th and Sakada Day Celebration every December 20th. Consul General Jamoralin gave special thanks to Governor Ige for signing into law the House Bill 604 or the “Sakada Day” Bill recognizing the arrival of  the first Filipino plantation workers or “sakadas” in Hawaii which paved the way for  the birth of the Filipino community in Hawaii, now the largest ethnic group in the state.

Governor Ige gave Consul General Jamoralin a token gift, a box made of Koa wood which is native to Hawaii.  Consul General Jamoralin gave the Governor a frame made of capiz from the Philippines. Consul General Jamoralin was accompanied by Mr. Jeffrey de Mesa, Philippine Consulate staff.
