Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin of the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu, Hawaii hosted a reception for Mayor Maria Cristina C. Angeles of Tarlac City, Philippines, and her delegation of seventeen (17) Tarlac City government officials on 23 January 2018 at the Philippine Consulate General. The reception followed the delegation’s courtesy call on the Consul General on the same day.

Upon the invitation of Hawaii State Representative John Mizuno, Mayor Angeles and her delegation are in Honolulu for a five-day working visit with the goals of forging stronger relations between Tarlac City Government and the State of Hawaii, exploring possibilities for an exchange program for teachers and students, and learning from Hawaii’s best practices in the fields of tourism, health, human services, and disaster preparedness.

Also joining the reception were Representative John and Mrs. May Mizuno and officers of two Tarlac organizations in Hawaii, the Mayantocquenians of Hawaii and Tarlac Mutual Club of Hawaii.

Apart from the courtesy call on the Consul General a reception, the Tarlac City delegation’s itinerary include courtesy calls on Hawaii Governor David Ige, visit to the Hawaii State Legislature, participation in a panel on disaster preparedness and meeting with the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT).

Mayor Angeles is the first ever elected female Mayor of Tarlac City. (END).
