28 April 2021, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA – Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies Director Rear Admiral (Ret) Peter A. Gumatato called on Philippine Consul General in Honolulu Joselito A. Jimeno at the newly renovated Philippine Consulate Chancery on 27 April 2021.
Also present during the call were Deputy Consul General Angelica Escalona, Consul Grace Anne Bulos, AFP Assistant Liaison Officer to the INDOPACOM Col. Vince James Bantilan and Professor Virginia Bacay Watson, Ph.D. of the DKI-APCSS.
The DKI-APCSS is a Honolulu-based U.S. Department of Defense institute that addresses regional and global security, inviting military and civilian representatives of the United States and Asia-Pacific nations in its comprehensive program of executive education and workshops in Hawaii and throughout the Indo-Pacific region. Participants from the Philippines regularly attend its programs.
Consul General Jimeno and Director Gumataotao discussed the institute’s current programs as well as issues of mutual concern to the Philippines and the United States. Consul General Jimeno noted that the two countries will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations and the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Mutual Defense Treaty this year.
