PRESS RELEASE NO. 17-2022

31 March 2022 - To wrap up the commemoration of this year’s Women’s Month, two teams of students from Waipahu High School participated in an Ideathon last March 31 organized by the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu. The eight junior high school students skillfully presented their proposals in addressing pressing gender issues. Team C.A.L.M., comprised of Lawrah Ashley Cabaya, Camille Anne Dela Cruz, Mariah Iris Ramo, and Avril Rose Valdez, proposed the creation of Girl Up Clubs to tackle gender-related concerns, while 22AD, whose members included Jarvia Crecia Agbayani, Alana Jeanne Mendoza, Kayla Nguyen, and Angelica Santos, called for the review of dress codes in schools, which disproportionately affected girls. Delicacies from Filipina-owned establishments were served to help support and promote women entrepreneurs.
