10 May 2022, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA – The overseas voting turnout for the 9 May 2022 Philippine national elections reached a record high in Hawaii and American Samoa with a total of 2,993 votes cast, comprising 35 percent of the 8,450 total registered voters in Hawaii and American Samoa.  

Consul General Emil Fernandez expressed his appreciation to those who exercised their civic duty to vote and also thanked the Consulate’s Commission on Elections (COMELEC)-deputized personnel who served as members of the Special Ballot Reception and Custody Group (SBRCG) and the Special Board of Election Inspectors (SBEI) for dutifully and efficiently carrying out their overseas voting election duties. “In a larger context, we helped ensure that democracy in the Philippines is alive and well - being able to choose our leaders and the peaceful transition of power, no matter what the outcome,” Consul General Fernandez said.

Pursuant to COMELEC Resolutions 10750 and 10751, the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu conducted the overseas voting for the May 9, 2022 Philippine national elections from 8:00 A.M. of 10 April to 1:00 A.M. of 9 May.  The Consulate General closed the polls and conducted the final counting of votes promptly at 1:00 AM on 9 May, which synchronized with the counting of votes in the Philippines at 7:00 P.M. on 9 May.  The counting of votes and electronic transmission of the electoral returns finished at 11:00 A.M. on that same day.  END
