13 June 2022, Honolulu, Hawaii - The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu, led by Acting Head of Post Jomar T. Sadie, celebrated the 124th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence in a flag-raising ceremony held today at the Consulate grounds.
The Consulate’s commemoration under this year’s theme: “Kalayaan 2022: Pagsuong sa Hamon ng Panibagong Bukas” was highlighted by the reading of the Independence Day messages of Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. and President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, who called upon everyone to come together in unity for the glory and triumph of the Filipino nation.
The commemoration is part of a series of activities prepared by Honolulu PCG namely the Colors of Freedom Exhibit (May 28 - June 03), National Flag Days Online Trivia (May 28 -June 12), Independence Day Celebration & Filipino Food Week Hawai’i Media Launch (16 June 2022), as well as the “Philippine Textiles: Weaving the Filipino Identity” Independence Day Celebration (18 June 2022) in partnership with the Philippine Celebrations Coordinating Committee of Hawai’i.
